8 Ways to stay broke

I know this is counterintuitive, but in my life, I've heard a plethora of excuses as to why someone can't achieve a goal or why they'll never have what someone else has. So, I figured I'd make this first post for them. These are all the ways to Stay Broke so that everyone can gain that dopamine hit and feel good for achieving something.

Limiting Beliefs

The key and best way to stay broke is by maintaining the idea that some things are fated, set in stone, or something that maybe you just can't achieve. "Yeah, someone else may have done it, lived the life I would have wanted to live, but that's just because they were lucky. Things didn't play out for me like that, and I'll never get there... and I'm okay with that."

These are the things people tell themselves to calm them, make them feel good about the situation they are in. Everyone would love to know that the thing they failed at just isn't possible, e.g., "I didn't fail, it's just impossible." This is no different from giving up and is the perfect way to stay broke, as it allows you the illusion that you've done all you needed to do and all you could do. Wouldn't it be so convenient during a school test if it were impossible to get the answer? This method allows the brain to stop working and makes you miss out on the very kind of thinking that would allow you to persevere.

Spend like there's no Tomorrow

"Life's too short, right? So why not do it now?" This thinking is so close to being right, and that's what makes it so great at making you broke. Yes, there isn't much time, and anything can happen, but that should make it even more imperative (important) that you focus on what you truly wish to achieve. Understanding that life is short and focusing on what's important should go hand in hand. But if the aim is a race to zero, then spend like there's no tomorrow. I'm sure future you will be happy with your situation.

Fear Change

"Different could mean worse, so why bother? Now isn't perfect, but at least it's not worse."
wE wAnNa bE bRoKe, sO wHy cHanGe? We dislike the situation we are in immensely, but changing could actually make it better. That's exactly why we shouldn't change. bEcAuSe iF I dIdN't lIkE sOmEtHiNg, wHy tHe hElL wOuLd I wOrK tO cHanGe iT? That's absolutely ludicrous.

Don't Set Goals

Definitely don't set goals, as this would enable you to notice all the things you're yet to accomplish. No, float in the wind; have no sense of direction, as then people can't tell what you were meant to accomplish but didn't. Most importantly, you can't tell what you didn't achieve, so you can stay blissfully ignorant, telling yourself, "This is all I wanted."

"If its meant for you it'll be"

Willful bliss. Life's a rollercoaster, and you've just got to hold on, and it'll take you to where you're meant to be. Exerting yourself would be crazy—you may actually end up where you'd want to be. No, be blown around by the wind until you regret where you end up. Then you can at least blame the wind for bringing you there. This is a great way to stay broke, as the wind will take you there. Much like not changing, you'll end up in the same place, and that's exactly where you are. Maybe something will come across your way, or maybe, just maybe, you'll miss it because really, what you needed to do was try.

"I'm not wrong everyone else is"

You are special, and don't let anyone else tell you differently. How can anyone match your intellect or understand the complex things you've got to think about? If you deem something impossible, it must be because there's no one in the world who's done it who you could learn from. And you deserve everything the reason you are not where you want to be is because the world just doesn't understand your greatness. If everyone else were better, they could realize how great you are.

This one needs no explanation I'd be wrong for trying to challenge their greatness anyways.

"I'm Just Too Busy"

The unfortunate thing about this one is that the people this is meant for are too busy to see it. They've packed their schedules with so many different activities, events, and people to please, demanding so much of their time and energy that there's no time for them and their future. Why would there be? They're too philanthropic to help themselves.

To achieve this, you've just got to continually say "Yes" to everything. "No" isn't in your vocabulary, and if you find you have time for yourself, then obviously you're being too selfish—there must be someone you can help who needs your attention more than you do. The outcome of your life isn't your concern. No, your aim is to make sure you have so little time to think about things (like the direction your life is heading) that your whole life becomes a blur of tasks that don't satisfy you. But you have a self-proclaimed sense of duty to do them. You say things like, "It's [blank] month already," having no recollection of where the time went, justifying the misallocation of your time. Because, of course, it's not your fault—you're busy.

"I almost did it"

This one is one of the worst because you still get that sense of accomplishment, like you did something—like trying is enough. No one is ever praised for almost paying their bills or almost getting to work. There are some things you either do or don't; you don't deserve praise for missing the mark. Oh, what am I saying? Maybe should aimlessly jump from one quit project to the next, accumulating all the dopamine you can for attempting, because all that matters is, you've tried your best ;)

If maybe you didn't get this piece, you're meant to do the opposite of everything written above—or don't, if your goal really is to stay broke.
